High winds kicked up problems Thursday around Rutherford County and heavy rain caused some minor flooding. While the rain cooled things off, the slow moving storms dropped between two and three inches of rain here in just a couple of hours. The Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency and trained storm spotters reported some trees down on Medical Center Parkway, Compton Road and Leanna Road. The trees took out power lines on Leanna Road. Also lines were reported down on Mt. Tabor Road and Manchester Pike. A home was struck by lightning on Lascassas Pike, but it did not catch fire. The heavier damage was spotty and not considered major.
