In addition, the men's team also was named an ITA All-Academic Team. It marks the first time either program has picked up ITA individual or team academic accolades.
Marietta Bigus, Alex Dachos, Matthew Langley, Dimitri Pippos and Kyle Wishing each earned individual honors. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1) be a varsity letter winner, 2) have a grade point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year and 3) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Middle Tennessee's men's team was one of three Sun Belt men's programs to receive all-academic team honors, along with Denver and Louisiana. The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.2 or above.
MT's five scholar-athletes are tied for the third most among SBC schools, behind Louisiana's seven (4 male, 3 female) and UALR's six (all female). Denver also had five individuals earn scholar-athlete honors (all male).
