City Construction Projects
Manson Pike/Fortress Blvd Realignment Project
Expected Lane Closures: Wednesday, 3:00 PM: All the traffic will be shifted onto the newly built section of Fortress Blvd and through the new intersection of Fortress Blvd and Manson Pike/John Rice Blvd. The new traffic signal at this location will be turned on and put in full operation. The existing roadway and traffic signal at the old intersection Manson Pike and Fortress Blvd will be removed. The appropriate traffic controls and signage will be in place. There will be traffic interruptions on Fortress Blvd, Manson Pike and Medical Center Pkwy during the traffic switch.
Fortress Blvd Widening Project (Between Blaze Drive and the new Manson/Fortress Intersection)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM: The contractor will continue final paving and striping on Fortress Blvd between Blaze Drive and Puckett Creek Crossing. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions.
CCTV Monitoring System Project
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM: The contractor for the CCTV expansion project will be installing new power services and fiber/cameras along Medical Center Pkwy. Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.
Maney Avenue Street Improvement Project (between SE Broad Street and College Street)
Expected Road Closures: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:00 PM: Road construction work continues along Maney Avenue between Broad Street and E Castle St. This section is closed to through traffic including the intersection of Maney Avenue and Castle Street. Access drives to the local residents and businesses will be kept open at all times. Motorists are advised to use Highland Ave and Academy Street travelling north/south and State Street and Vine Street travelling east/west. Work continues with road closures
Lytle Creek Sewer Replacement Project (Intersection of Hickerson Drive and West Castle Street)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday - Thursday: South Walnut from West Castle to the dead end section will be paved and open to traffic. Final surfacing will be done at a later time. Detour signs will be in-place. Work has begun on both sides of S. Church Street near Lytle Creek. Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.
AT&T Fiber Optic Project (Broad Street between Middle Tennessee and Academy St)
Expected NO Lane Closures: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM: The contractor for AT&T will be installing underground fiber optic cables along the east side of Broad Street. There will be no lane closures. All work will be done off-street with minor interruptions at driveway entrances and exits. Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.
Veterans Pkwy (New section between Barfield Road/Kimbro Road and Barfield Crescent Road)
Expected NO Lane Closures: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM: The contractor will be performing clearing and grubbing work off the street between Barfield Road and Barfield Crescent Road. There will be no lane closures. Expect minor truck traffic interruptions entering and exiting the roadway. Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.
Sewer Improvement Project (W Lytle Street, N Maple Street, N Walnut Street and W College Street)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 3:00 PM: Sewer improvement work will be performed on W Lytle St, N Maple St, N Walnut St and W College St all on the north and west of the public square. There will be partial lane closures and traffic interruptions.

Expected Lane Closures: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM & 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM: The contractor will be installing pole foundations and performing overhead and underground utility work at the above intersections. The will be no lane closures or traffic interruptions during the daytime work and partial lane closures with traffic interruptions during the nighttime work. Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.
TDOT Re-Paving Project (NW Broad Street between Florence Road and Thompson Lane)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM: The contractor for TDOT will be milling and re-paving NW Broad Street between Florence Road and Thompson Lane. Milling work will begin tonight at the intersection of NW Broad Street and Florence Road. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. All milling and paving work will be done at night. Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.
Sun Trust Bank Window Cleaning Project (corner of Main Street and Spring Street)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM & 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM: The contractor for Sun Trust Bank will be cleaning windows on the outside of the building at the corner of Main Street and Spring Street. The right turn lane on Main Street at Spring Street will be closed to accommodate the man lift that is needed to accomplish the job. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place. Work continues, minor traffic interruptions.
Middle Tennessee at Bell Street Sewer Improvement Project
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM: Sewer improvement work will be performed on Bell Street at Middle Tennessee Blvd. Bell Street will be closed and the southbound traffic on Middle Tennessee will be reduced to one lane and shifted to the east at the traffic signal. Expect lane closures and traffic interruptions on Middle Tennessee and Bell Street. Saturday, July 23, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM: The traffic on Middle Tennessee will be reduced to two lanes (one each direction) at the intersection of Bell Street. Appropriate traffic controls will be in place.
Old Middle Tennessee Medical Center Overhead Pedestrian Bridge Removal (Bell Street between Highland Ave and University Avenue)
Expected Road Closures: Saturday & Sunday, July 23-24, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM: The demolition contractor for MTMC will be removing the overhead pedestrian bridge across Bell Street. Bell Street will be closed between Highland Ave and University Ave. There will be appropriate road closure signs and barricades in-place at both ends of the road closure.
TDOT Safety Improvement Project (Old Fort Pkwy at Cason Lane & Cason Lane at River Rock Blvd)
Expected Lane Closures: Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM: The contractor for TDOT will be making traffic signal and pavement marking improvements at the intersections of Old Fort Pkwy and Cason Lane & Cason Lane and River Rock Blvd. There will be lane closures and traffic interruptions. All work will be done at night.
