Nissan Is "Energy Star" Certified

Three facilities in Tennessee are among the 70 top performing Energy Star Certified manufacturing plants in 29 states, and one is here in Rutherford County. Congratulations to Nissan, with the largest automotive plant in the entire nation under one roof located in Smyrna.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that these facilities have achieved Energy Star certification for their superior energy performance in 2014. Together, they saved a record amount of energy, cut their energy bills by $725 million, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 8 million metric tons -equivalent to the annual total energy use of more than 650,000 households.

The massive Nissan plant in Smyrna is Energy Star certified.

The other two facilities in the Volunteer State to achieve this recognition are Buzzi Unicem, a cement manufacturer in Chattanooga, and Merck, a pharmaceutical preparation plant in Cleveland.
