A Saturday (7/30/11) afternoon blaze in neighboring Coffee County totally destroyed the Tennessee Bio Energy plant. Firefighters from throughout Coffee County, Morrison and AEDC were called around 12:30 to 330 Shady Grove Road in Summitville.
Our news partners at WMSR in Manchester spoke with a plant employee who estimated that about 60,000 gallons of ethanol burned. There were no reports of injuries. All firefighting crews were pulled-out around 4:30 Saturday afternoon, because of the threat of explosions.

According to the Tennessee Bio Energy website, the plant produces B99 and B100 biodiesel. The plant is also a large producer of refined Glycerin. Officials describe the Coffee County facility as a total loss.
