News Partner the Shelbyville Times Gazette reports that

warrants have been obtained for a man who could be in Nashville or Murfreesboro.

Shelbyville Police are searching for a man who is possibly in Murfreesboro or Nashville. The suspect has been accused of stealing a pistol, later recovered, from a Bethany Lane apartment this past Friday.

The victim said he initially noticed body wash and toothpaste missing, then noticed a damaged window and front door and a footprint on an air conditioning unit, and moments later found the pistol was gone.

A warrant for possessing/selling stolen property was issued against James Edward Roe, who has been living in another nearby apartment, after he allegedly sold the stolen pistol to a third nearby resident for $150.

Roe allegedly said he needed the money to pay his mother's utility bill; the victim said Roe had been asking neighbors for money to buy food and cigarettes daily. After discovering the pistol was stolen, the buyer got her money back and the gun was returned to the victim.

Officers had heard Roe was staying at a Baker Street home, where a resident told them he had moved to Nashville. Warrants have been issued against Roe in Murfreesboro as well, police said.
