Man who robbed Cash Express in Murfreesboro to remain locked up

A man convicted of criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery and attempted second degree murder in Rutherford County filed a petition with the Appels court in Tennessee. Murfreesboro resident Jimmy Heard, who was sentenced to 29-years behind bars, suggested that he was unlawfully interrogated by police after the crime unfolded in 2005.

Heard is the man who robbed a Cash Express store in Murfreesboro and later led police on a pursuit as he fled in his car.

The Court of Criminal Appeals upheld the convictions on Tuesday (May 19, 2015) and Heard's sentence ends in year 2031. Heard will be 67 at the time of his release.

Heard also suggested in his appeal:

  • (1) submit a transcript of the hearing on petitioner?s motion to recuse the trial judge
  • (2) address petitioner?s bond increase without a hearing
  • (3) address petitioner?s allegedly unlawful interrogation by law enforcement officers
  • (4) object to a judge hearing his appeal who allegedly was once assigned to hear his case at trial. Upon our review, we affirm the judgment of the post-conviction court.
