Prestige Auto Spa at 1330 NW Broad Street was shut-down around 11;30 Saturday morning after approximately 55-gallons of diesel fuel spilled. Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department's Engine 4, Rescue 7, and Car 24 responded to a large diesel spill.
According to Shift Commander Daryl Alexander, the fuel spilled from a tank on the back of a truck entering the carwash.
He told NewsRadio WGNS, "City Environmental Engineer Sam Huddleston investigated the incident, and we do not believe the fuel is posing any environmental threat, as it is mostly contained in the holding tanks inside the carwash."
An environmental cleanup crew has been called to mitigate the situation.
Commander Alexander noted, "They will have to extract all the fuel from the holding tanks before beginning the cleanup process,.
The carwash will be closed until further notice.
