Hot Day, Stormy Night

The hottest day of the year turned into a stormy evening. Mother Nature put on a lightning show Wednesday night, as storms developed over Rutherford County and were slow to move. Not only was the light show amazing and dangerous at the same time (see the video), but the torrential rains forced the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for eastern areas of the county. From Walter Hill, Lascassas and Kittrell to the east, three-to-four inches of rain fell in a couple of hours. This rain came after temperatures reached a scorching 101-degrees. That tied the record high for August 3rd and was eight-degrees shy of the all time record of 109-degrees for Murfreesboro, set back in 1954.
