By a vote of 14-to-7, Rutherford County Commissioners passed a new budget for fiscal year 2015-2016. That budget, which was passed Friday morning during a special session, includes a seven-point-eight-percent property tax increase for schools. The increase will fund the 326-point-one-million dollar budget for Rutherford County Schools. It will not only pay for new staff needed to keep up with growth in the system's 46 schools, but also a three-point-one percent pay increase. That's the county's portion to go along with what the state budgeted.
