It was the large bulge in the area of his groin that tipped off Murfreesboro Police, according to an arrest report.
Police approached a vehicle on Evergreen at Lee Street after seeing what appeared to be suspicious activity and smelling the odor of marijuana.
Front seat passenger Jonathan S. Smith agreed to allow police to search him and that was when the bulge was first noticed. Once the bulge was evaluated, Smith retrieved two ounces of marijuana from his crotch, according to the report obtained by WGNS. After the weed was retrieved, a female standing next to the car approached Detective Gann of the MPD and stated, "She felt bad that her shorts were not large enough to conceal the narcotics because they belonged to her and she handed them to Mr. Smith right before we arrived." At that point, police arrested 23-year old Emily Robinson of Bell Buckle and charged her with "Conspiracy to Distribute Narcotics."
As for 25-year old Smith, booking officers at the local jail found more drugs in the area of his groin. Deputies found 11 Xanax bars and 32 individual packages of marijuana. Therefore, he was charged with "Felony Possession of a Schedule 6 Drug, Felony Possession of a Schedule 4 Drug, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Bringing Contraband into a Penal Institution."
Both Robinson and Smith will appear in court on September 1, 2015.
