Murfreesboro area bonding company ordered to pay state $30,000

Jul 29, 2015 at 03:07 pm by Bryan Barrett

A judge has ordered AAAA Bonding to pay $30,000 in forfeited bonds for two brothers who skipped town in 2009 after being arrested for selling drug-laced brownies on the way to Bonnaroo.

In a June memorandum, Senior Judge Ben Cantrell ruled the state is entitled to payments of $18,000 and $12,000 for Charles and Dane Culver, respectively, from the bonding company. All local judges recused themselves from the case because Circuit Court Clerk Melissa Harrell previously owned the company.

Former District Attorney Bill Whitesell sought extradition of the two men in January 2012. But in a court hearing, AAAA Bonding attorneys Joel Moseley Jr. and Sr. contended the DA's office didn't follow procedure.

Moseley is listed as the registered agent for AAAA Bonding, taking over for Harrell, in September 2014, according to Secretary of State documents.
