Unbelievably quick teamwork between several local emergency groups has resulted in two suspects charged with making a bomb threat directed to Oakland High School on Tuesday (8/9/11).

Suspects Robert Lee “Zak” Hunt Jr., 22 (top), of 303 Fairfax Drive was charged with two counts of felony filing a false report, possession of a weapon with intent to go armed, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia by School Resource Officer Capt. Barry Hendrixson and Oakland High School SRO David Crim.

Crim charged co-defendant Eric Dennison, 18 (bottom), of 2222 Memorial Blvd., was charged with two counts of felony conspiracy to file a false report.

As a precaution, school officials evacuated the school and located students on the football field while law enforcement officers searched the school.

Acting on a tip, Hendrixson and Detective Troy Hooker located the suspects and brought them to the sheriff’s office where Hooker questioned them Tuesday afternoon.

They were booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where hearings were scheduled Sept. 14th in General Sessions Court.

Sheriff Robert F. Arnold said he hopes the arrests will deter similar threats in the future. He commented, “Safety of our students is a top priority for the school resource officers and the sheriff’s office.”

Arnold said he appreciated Murfreesboro Police, Emergency Medical Services paramedics and Emergency Management Agency officials working with Rutherford County Schools and the Sheriff’s Office to handle the situation safely. The sheriff concluded, “Everybody worked well together. Everyone was safe.”
