Homelessness, Alcoholism and Mental Illness are some of the big problems for Rutherford County

In addition to drugs and alcohol, approximately 8,000 Rutherford County residents experienced mental illness in the past year. Some of those illnesses included schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or a major depressive disorder.

Another piece of information that was discussed on Thursday was homelessness. In Rutherford County, 846 adults and 829 children are considered to be homeless.
