Rutherford Co. Sheriff's Office to work with parents on child safety seats

The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the Tennessee Governor's Highway Safety Office, will hold the following events during Child Passenger Safety Week Sept. 14-19.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 1:45 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Wilson Elementary School. Sheriff's deputies will monitor pick-up line for booster seat use. We will have educational materials for parents and caregivers as well as booster seats available for those needing them.
  • Thursday, Sept. 17 all day at Oakland High School to attend Class/Workshop during Early Childhood Development classes for students. Sheriff's deputies will have handouts and will check car seats as needed.
  • Friday, Sept. 18, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at La Vergne Lake Elementary School where sheriff's deputies will monitor pick up line for booster seat use. We will have educational materials for parents and caregivers as well as booster seats available for those needing them.
  • Saturday, Sept. 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a Car Seat checkpoint at Toys 'R' Us in Murfreesboro. The event will be a partnership with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, Murfreesboro Fire Department, and the Murfreesboro Police Department. Child Passenger Safety technicians will inspect child seats and installation as well as pass out educational materials to parents and caregivers about proper child restraint use.
