Oct 20, 2015 at 04:01 pm by Bryan Barrett

The Rutherford County Juvenile Court Center will have its 6th Annual Open House this coming Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 in the evening. It is located at 1710 South Church Street, across from the Honda and Dodge auto dealerships.

This is the only time during the year that Juvenile Court Judge Donna Scott Davenport opens the facility to public tours. In an earlier WGNS broadcast, Judge Davenport explained that this event offers a great opportunity for all ages to learn more about the workings of the juvenile justice system.

In addition to the guided tours, there will also be light refreshments. There will be person there to answer your questions about the parenting classes, Walk-In Wednesdays, and other programs that are offered.

Officials with the facility are working to increase the number of books as well as topics in the facilities' library. Displays showing a variety of books deemed suitable for young persons at the facility will be displayed at the entrance. Visitors are able to browse and decide if they would like to purchase a book and gift it to the Juvenile Justice Center.

This Thursday night's event is hosted by Judge Donna Scott Davenport, Magistrates Adam Dodd and Jeff McCullough, along with the staffs of the Rutherford County Juvenile Clerk's Office, Youth Services Office, Juvenile Detention Center, and Sheriff's Office.

Again, the open house is from 4:00 until 6:00 this coming Thursday evening at the Rutherford County Juvenile Court Center at 1710 South Church Street.
