Rutherford County Sheriff's Detective Clint Teasley earned an Award of Achievement from the Tennessee Narcotics Officers Association for seizing 7,000 prescription pills during a lengthy investigation.

Detective Teasley, who is assigned to the Drug Enforcement Administration's Task Force, was recognized by the association for the largest reported seizure of the 7,000 controlled substance prescription pills.

In a March press release about the investigation, U.S. Attorney David Rivera of the Middle District of Tennessee said the investigation resulted in 18 individuals charge with conspiracy to distribute oxycodone and oxymorphone. Three other defendants were charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering.

Michael J. Stanfill, Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the DEA-Tennessee, said the investigation showed an example of federal, state and local partners working to stop the flow of highly addictive pharmaceutical pills in Tennessee.

This extensive investigation was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration; the IRS-Criminal Investigation; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives; the FBI; the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office; the Smyrna Police Department; the Mt. Juliet Police Department; the 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force; the Michigan State Police; the Brighton, Michigan Police Dept.; and the Clinton Township, Michigan Police Department.
