Acclaimed business leader Tom Black, author of The Boxcar Millionaire, will address members and guests at RutherfordCABLE’s 7:00 a.m. breakfast meeting on Tuesday, September 13th at Stones River Country Club.

Tom Black has inspired readers and audiences with his rags-to-riches story. His road to success in business began with a job in college, when he worked for The Southwestern Company of Nashville selling books door-to-door; he quickly became a sales manager. Subsequently, Black worked for FISI*Madison Financial, where he developed his division’s sales from less than $1 million to more than $350 million.

Black left FISI*Madison to start Private Business, Inc. During his tenure as CEO, Private Business became the leading provider of accounts receivable programs for community banks and their commercial customers. Black took the company public and served on its board for several years before he and a partner purchased Bancsource, Inc. (formerly known as Tecniflex, Inc.), a company that sells equipment and provides hardware maintenance to community banks. He formed a sister company, Imagic Corporation, that develops and supports check-imaging systems to community banks.

As CEO, Black expanded both companies from small regional status to national sales and service organizations. Imagic grew quickly, merged with Open Solutions, Inc. and went public. With Tom Black at the helm, Bancsource has grown from existing as a regional company to serving 3,000 banks in 49 states. Black remains Chairman of the Board for Bancsource.

A member of the National Speakers Association (NSA), Black founded the Tom Black Center for Excellence in Nashville, which offers customized sales training services to national clients in basic sales skills, key account strategies, sales management training and keynote speeches, among other specialties.

Black has partnered with Mark Victor Hansen, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul, to form “Mega Success”, which offers one-day seminars in major markets featuring Mark Victor Hansen, Art Linkletter, himself, and other entrepreneurs, authors, and personal success trainers. Regarding his upcoming RutherfordCABLE address, he said, "I am excited to speak to the women leaders of Rutherford County. I hope to share principles of success that improve all of their success and happiness."

The RutherfordCABLE breakfast meeting featuring keynote by Tom Black is open to guests and newcomers as well as RutherfordCABLE members. However, seating is limited; reservations must be made by September 8th. Ticket prices for members and guests are $15 and $20 each, respectively, and include breakfast.
