Assistant Murfreesboro City Manager Jim Crumley fielded calls from WGNS listeners about issues that concern them. After the August 24th broadcast, he went to the different department heads for answers to all questions. Here is what he discovered:

#1 Are there plans for a traffic signal at County Farm Road/Lynnford Drive and South Church Street (US-231)?

Answer: There are no current plans to signalize County Farm Road/Lynnford Drive, even with the reconstruction of Joe B. Jackson Parkway. The obligation to signalize this intersection, as well as other roadway improvements, will ultimately be that of the developer of the large land mass on the southeast corner of this intersection. A development there is projected to generate substantial traffic that would cause signal warrant analysis criteria to be met. While this piece of property is still being actively marketed, there have been no plans submitted to the City to-date.

#2 A resident at the intersection of County Farm Road and Joe B. Jackson Parkway (Heartland subdivision) reported motorists routinely running the stop sign from the subdivision and excessive speed around that intersection. The request is to step up enforcement activities.

Answer: Chief Chrisman has instructed the shift commanders to assign some sign/signal and speed enforcement at the location.

#3 A resident of the Bellwood Crossing subdivision asked for an update on plans to address flooding in that area.

Answer: The City recently completed Phase 1 of the Bellwood project which included addressing erosion problems behind several residents homes in the area. The City is also doing some additional work to the closed system that should provide some relief to the drainage problem. Ultimately, the goal is to redirect some water that’s coming from their development, Sanbyrn Hall, and Middle Tennessee Boulevard from this area. The City is still evaluating other possibilities at this point. No additional work in the area is planned until after the first of the year.

#4 A resident asked for a stop sign to be installed at the intersection of an access road behind Tractor Supply to Dill Lane.

Answer: The access road behind Tractor Supply and Dill Lane is a private drive. Normally, this would not require a stop sign unless the alignment and/or the approach to the intersection are skewed. It is up to the private development to install the stop sign if they choose to do so.
