Phil Dodd, former owner of Dodd Construction Company and associate broker with PARKS Realty in Murfreesboro, has joined Dow Smith Company, Inc. as Project Manager and Estimator. Dodd began work October 1, 2015.

"Phil is a consummate professional and a very capable and accomplished human being. When you meet Phil, you know you are dealing with a person who is true to the core. We are very excited that Phil has joined our company."

Dodd, a longtime and well-established member of the community, owned and operated Dodd Construction Company, a residential, commercial, highway and municipal utility construction company, from 1986 through 2011. After he closed the company, he joined Nissan North America in Smyrna, TN as a Production Supervisor, from 2011 until 2015.

"I bring not only my years of construction experience, but also the great lessons about on-time delivery and process-oriented results that were reinforced at Nissan and the relationships I have at PARKS," Dodd said. "At Dow Smith Company, we are focused on a quality result, on time and within budget, and to the customer's specifications. All of my previous background and experience is a great fit for the work we are doing, which is fast-paced and goal-driven."

In his new position, Dodd is responsible for working on project plans, proposals and bids and building relationships with prospects and customers as he manages construction projects.

In his construction career, Dodd developed and managed large residential and commercial construction projects. Phil is a graduate of Oakland High School and Middle Tennessee State University. Dodd is the current Board President of Greenhouse Ministries and is a Rutherford County Commissioner. He is a former Board Member of the Rutherford County Home Builders Association and Focus Rutherford, a subcommittee of Destination Rutherford, a Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce economic development initiative. Dodd also has been a member of Cumberland Region Tomorrow and the Rutherford County Public Building Authority from 2006 through 2011. He served as a Stephen Minister and a Coordinator of Youth Ministry at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Phil Dodd has been married to Melissa Dodd for 28 years; the couple has three sons, including Phillip, age 24, a legislative aide to Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski; Griffin, age 18, a senior at Central Magnet School; and Thomas, age 14, a freshman at Central Magnet School.
