Are You In A PICKLE?

Sep 03, 2011 at 10:01 am by Bryan Barrett

The Rutherford County Agricultural Extension Service is putting you in a PICKLE from 10:00 until noon Thursday morning, October 13th.

It begins with a free lecture. Learn the secrets of fresh, brine pickles: you know them as Dill Pickles, Sauerkraut, Kimchi, Borscht or Italian Mixed Vegetables along with pickle tasting. During that session, the workbook The Mastery of Brine Pickling will be available for $5.00.

The Lecture is followed by a workshop for $30.00 which includes a Perfect Pickler Mason Jar Kit, a Mastery of Brine Pickling Workbook with hands-on instruction, pre-cut vegetables, choice of herb blends and brine. Students go home with a fresh batch of brine pickles.

Bill Hettig has been a whole foods instructor for over 20 years and has lectured extensively in the Southeast and the country. This is his first visit to Murfreesboro!
Pre-register and pre-paying is recommended as spots are limited for the workshop portion. For more information and to pre-register, contact Extension Agent Pat Whitaker: e-mailo pwhitak1@utk.edu or phone 615-898-7710.
