Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton closed in on their party's presidential nominations by racking up big wins on Super Tuesday. Rutherford Countians followed suit, by choosing the two frontrunners over the rest of the field.
Trump captured 13,229 voted in Rutherford County or 35.87-percent. Ted Cruz came in second and Marco Rubio third here.
Clinton found support from 8,243 Democrats here in Rutherford County or 57-percent of the vote to challenger Bernie Sander's nearly 42-percent.

There are still many big states in play as the race for the White House continues. Rutherford Countians will again have a say in who becomes the next president November 8th when the final ballots are cast in the general election.
