The hammer was left at the scene of the crime, according to Murfreesboro Police after someone tried to gain access to the McDonald's Restaurant safe.

A surveillance video from the McDonald's on the New Salem Highway at St. Andrews Drive shows that a man used a hammer to shatter the drive through window. After breaking out the window, he climbed inside the restaurant and made his way to the manager's office where the store safe is located. The man then pulled out a cell phone as if her were reading a text message and tried to enter a code to open the safe, but was unsuccessful.

The restaurant was closed when the break in occurred. The fast food eatery is open from 5AM to 11PM daily.

After the subject failed to open the safe, he left the restaurant leaving his hammer behind. Detectives were notified and the hammer was entered as evidence. The case is under investigation at this time.
