The United States Attorney's office recognized two local residents for outstanding law enforcement work. Both were with the Murfreesboro Police Department when the case was broken. Detective Sergeant Katrina Henderson and former Detective Eric Howser were instrumental in obtaining a conviction in the case of U.S. vs Kenneth James Stopkotte.

Interim Murfreesboro Police Chief Michael Bowen said, "The case started with a complaint of stolen checks at a local church here in Murfreesboro. A suspect was developed through investigations and then the Secret Service was notified for assistance in the case. This is a prime example of both local and federal law enforcement agencies working together, which results in crimes solved by arrests."

Howser has since left the local department and now serves as director of the Financial Services Investigations with the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance.

Bowen concluded, "We are proud of the work these detectives have done on this case and thankful for a conviction."
