UPDATE: "TN Ready" Testing In Rutherford County

Mar 13, 2016 at 08:53 pm by Bryan Barrett

It appears that TNReady from the State of Tennessee may still have some "bumps ahead".

Rutherford County Schools is expected to receive TNReady testing materials Friday (3/11/16) for 22 this county's 45 schools from the testing vendor for the Tennessee Department of Education. The remaining 23 county schools should get their tests Monday.

Rutherford County Schools Community Relations Coordinator James Evans told NewsRadio WGNS, "The school district held a meeting with its testing coordinators on Friday (3/11/2016) morning, and has decided to give each school the flexibility on when to begin the tests. Rutherford schools now have the option to begin testing Tuesday through Thursday, March 15-17, depending when they have their materials ready. Once a school begins its testing, the school will have five days to complete the testing."

Evans stressed that each school will communicate with parents to notify them about when their testing will begin.

He explained that once all the schools have completed testing, which will be during the week of March 21st, the materials will then be delivered to the districts central office. From there, central office instructional personnel will process the testing materials and ship them back to the state on Monday, March 28, during the district's spring break.

Officials at "TN Ready" explain that testing time for TNReady tries to balance two key pieces of feedback which have received from educators, parents, and students: we want to limit the amount of testing going on in our classrooms while still providing students with enough time to do their best on a more rigorous assessment, which will involve more writing than it has in the past.

Any parent who has questions about the testing window for their child should contact their school directly or the district's curriculum and instruction department at 615-893-5812. You can also visit the state's website at www.tn.gov/education/article/tnready-testing.
