Word To Persons Facing Cancer
When Lee Anne Weaver was asked what she would tell a person who just learned that they were facing a cancer battle, she commented, "I would encourage them to keep a positive attitude and link with networks of people. You can never have too much support, prayers and encouragement."
NewsRadio WGNS asked when she discovered the battle was ahead?
Lee Anne calmly said, "I was on a Girl Scout trip last year with three other younger moms. I couldn't get over how much energy they had."
Weaver explained that she married late and had her children late. In fact, the children are age 12 and 20.
"The thought of having cancer hits you for a loop. You feel like, I don't have time for this. Suddenly, you realize that is not a choice."
Be Positive...Network
She reiterated the importance of keeping a positive attitude and networking with positive groups.
Lee Anne noted, "There a group that's called CANCER.org. People write notes of encouragement on a card, and it always seems to come at the perfect time. The other day, out of the blue, a card arrived from Alaska. You can't imagine what that does for you."
She commented that another networking group that does a tremendous job is Chemo Angels, and they are found at chemoangels.org.
Kentucky Oaks followed by Derby
