At approximately 4:53 Friday (3/18/2016) morning, Murfreesboro Police received a 911 call of "shots fired" at "The Vie" Apartments located at 1345 Wenlon Drive. Police were on-the-scene within 2-minutes.

Witnesses told officers that an unknown black male was laying in the parking lot between the Number 3 and Number 5 buildings. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and his identity is still unknown.

Major Clyde Adkisson told NewsRadio WGNS, "Apartment residents saw a dark colored vehicle fleeing the scene. Officers also observed a speeding car in the immediate vicinity and conducted a traffic stop."

The driver had been shot in the leg and was transported to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital Emergency Room.
