State Representative Dawn White (R-Murfreesboro) joined with fellow members of the Daughters of the American Revolution last week to celebrate Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.

March 29th has been chosen to commemorate the last day of U.S. ground involvement in the Vietnam War, and has received the name Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day. Thousands of organizations across the country have become commemorative partners with the Department of Defense to specially recognize this day.

"We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to the members of our armed forces. These men and women lay their lives on the line so that we may continue to live in freedom," White said. "The liberties and freedoms we are blessed to enjoy are a direct result of the devotion, courage and sacrifice of each member of our armed forces."

The Tennessee Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a proud commemorative partner for this event in Tennessee. DAR members from across the state joined Representative White on the House floor this week for a reading of House Resolution 231 and to show deep appreciation to all who sacrificed for our nation during the Vietnam War.

"In addition to the sacrifices made by our troops, we must not forget those who they left behind at home. Our military families also deserve our profound thanks and recognition for their role in preserving our freedom. It is only appropriate that we stop to recognize the sacrifices made by all during military conflicts," said White.
