"Affirming America's Promise", that's the theme for the NAACP's 65th Annual State Convention and Civil Rights Advocacy Conference, to be held here in Murfreesboro, September 22-24 at First Baptist on East Castle Street and MTSU’s James Union Building.  State Conference President Gloria J. Sweet-Love held a press conference Tuesday morning in the rotunda of City Hall announcing the event, which will include speakers, panel discussions, and luncheons.  Councilwoman Madelyn Scales-Harris says our town is the ideal location for the event.  Pastor Ricky Turner and Reverend James McCarroll, Jr. also weighed in on what they hope is discussed at the conference, including jobs, faith based civic engagement, labor & industry, and youth advocacy.  Tickets are still available for the event, and more information can be found at TNNAACP.org.
