Registration is now open for BEP's Camp M.D. Presented by Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, scheduled for June 6-10th. Rising sixth through eighth grade students from Rutherford County are eligible to apply for the camp; however, camp space is limited. Applications are due by May 16th, and they are available at rutherfordbep.org.

BEP's Camp M.D. is presented by Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital. It is a tuition-free summer day camp that introduces students to healthcare careers through interaction with the medical community.

Camp M.D. will include tours of local medical facilities and discussions with healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses, medical assistants, lab technologists, researchers, and therapists. Student tours will be complemented by off-site activities designed to provide valuable information that will enable students to pursue the education necessary for careers in all levels of healthcare.

Gordon Ferguson, president and CEO of Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital and president of Saint Thomas Regional Hospitals, expressed his support of BEP's new initiative.

Ferguson said, "Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is very pleased to work with the Business Education Partnership and other local health care providers as the presenting sponsor of Camp MD. In addition to providing compassionate care at our various facilities, we view educating future health care providers as both a privilege and an obligation. If we can spark the interest of these kids to pursue a career in health care, this camp will have been a huge success."

The Business Education Partnership (BEP) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1988 with the help of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce. The BEP states as its mission: "To foster interest in and to promote and support programs in public schools of the City of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County that will prepare students for the business world."
