The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties recently completed its fifth annual Stuff the Bus program, presented by City Auto, to benefit children in Rutherford and Cannon counties. Over $40,000 worth of school supplies were collected and assembled into 2,500 Back to School Kits by 130 volunteers at the Stuff the Bus Sort-a-Thon. The Back to School Kits were distributed to Rutherford County, Murfreesboro City and Cannon County schools.
This year's Stuff the Bus Sort-a-Thon took place at Hobgood Elementary in Murfreesboro. Hobgood Elementary and the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties are both celebrating 60th anniversaries locally in the community this year.
Randy Allen, Director of Community Impact for United Way, said, "The path to success begins early, and we strive to provide children with a strong foundation through initiatives such as Stuff the Bus. This year's Stuff the Bus is a result of tremendous community partnerships."
Organizations, companies and individuals participated in the Sort-a-Thon set up on July 21st and the event on July 22nd at Hobgood Elementary.
