Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue responded to a fire caused by lightning on Thursday night.
District 7, Ladder 6, Engine 4, and Rescue 8 responded to a fire call at 1165 Central Valley Road around 7:30 Thursday night.
When crews arrived on scene, they discovered heavy smoke and flames shooting from the roof of a two-story home.
According to Acting Shift Commander Clay Walls, the fire began with a lightning strike to the roof. "Crews had to work hard to get to the fire," said Walls, "but once they found the fire, they made an aggressive interior attack and were able to extinguish the fire quickly."
The family of two was displaced from the home, but did not require assistance from the Red Cross. Fortunately, everyone was able to get out prior to MFRD's arrival.
There were no injuries associated with this incident.
