The Rutherford County Government took over the operations of probation in April of this year (2016). Prior to 2016, probation services were overseen by a private company.

Probation officers in Rutherford County are now titled "Case Managers." While research is underway now, a large majority of those on probation currently have had problems dealing with drugs or alcohol in our community.
