Two men charged in assault case at a motel in Murfreesboro after allegedly pinning woman to bed

A 34 year old woman reported to Murfreesboro Police an assault that occurred this past weekend. The incident unfolded at the Select Inn on South Church Street near I-24. The victim told police it was an attempted rape, but the two suspects have only been charged with assault at this point.

According to the victim, she received a knock at her motel door at around 10:00 at night this past Friday. Upon opening the door, two subjects allegedly made their way inside and pinned her to the bed. The victim screamed and was able to get out from under them and ran to a nearby room for help.

When police arrived on the scene, the two suspects came walking down the motel hallway. The victim quickly pointed them out and detectives detained the duo.

25 Year old Jay Sprenz has been charged with assault, aggravated burglary and public intoxication. He is currently free on bond. 43 Year old Jean Hervey was charged with assault and aggravated burglary. He too is free on bond after being arrested.

The case remains under investigation and attempted rape charges have not been filed at this point, only assault.
