Most of the downtown Murfreesboro area was without power for a couple hours Thursday. A tree, being cut by a Power Avenue man, fell on lines and shut-down a transformer at the nearby Bridge Avenue substation. It happened about 11:20 Thursday morning. In addition to the power being out, traffic signals were also out at some major intersections from Old Fort Parkway, Medical Center Parkway, New Salem Highway, Thompson Lane and Broad Street. It also took out some of Comcast service, which includes internet, TV, telephone and burglar alarms. Murfreesboro Electric crews worked to restore power in about two hours.
