The holiday season is a time of merriment for many, but it can be of the most difficult times of year for those who have lost loved ones. How do you approach the first holiday season after the death of a loved one? What can we do to make the season more manageable and reduce stress?

On Dec. 1, charitable nonprofit Alive Hospice will offer a FREE seminar in Murfreesboro with tips and strategies from a professional grief counselor to help grieving families and individuals cope with grief and loss this holiday season. Alive Hospice's Grief During the Holidays seminar will be held Thursday, Dec. 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Murfreesboro, 210 N. Spring Street. This seminar will include a time of remembrance.

There is no cost for attending, but reservations are required due to limited space. Families are encouraged to attend together. RSVP online at www.AliveHospice.org/holidayseminars or by calling 615-346-8680.

Alive Grief Support, the bereavement support program of Alive Hospice, also offers individual grief counseling and support groups for adults and children throughout the year. Anyone can take advantage of these services, regardless of whether a loved one was served by Alive Hospice. In fact, around 40 percent Alive Hospice's grief support clients are community members whose families did not receive Alive Hospice's services. Alive Hospice is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit, and its bereavement support program is largely funded by charitable contributions.
