Sophomore Dimitri Pippos won his third consecutive match in straight sets to advance to the finals of his flight on Sunday at the Austin Peay Fall Invitational.

Pippos defeated Austin Peay's Aleksas Tverijonas, 7-5, 6-2, in the semifinals before facing Lipscomb's Daniel Hernandez in the finals. The Queensland, Australia, native fell to Hernandez, 6-3, 6-4.

"Dimitri came out aggressively in his early match, and it paid off," head coach Jimmy Borendame said. "He really hit his stride this weekend, and despite falling in the finals, showed his ability in winning six straight sets."

Pippos and the Blue Raiders break from action this weekend before heading to the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships in Knoxville, Tenn., Oct. 20-24.
