Six Murfreesboro Police officers may face disciplinary action after handcuffing some students at Hobgood Elementary School last April. The students were charged with bullying and the incident that resulted in the arrests was caught by a camera phone. The youngsters taken into custody ranged in age from six to twelve.

Murfreesboro Police Chief Karl Durr asked the Metro Nashville Internal Affairs Department to assist with the investigation.

Outrage erupted after officers took the students away from the school, some were handcuffed. As a result, new policies where officers could work through parents in future situations.

Chief Durr now takes the investigation to the next level, when the officers face corrective action based on each individual's involvement in the arrests.

The in-depth investigation resulted in a report with more than 800 pages. It named Officers Crystal Templeton and Mark Todd, Sergeants Scott Newberg and Greg Walker, Lieutenant Steve Teeters and Major Clyde Adkison were cited.

Durr noted that several community meetings may result in policy changes into how children are handled in such situations, as well as improving communications.
