Discovery Center, Murfreesboro City Schools and Rutherford County Schools present Healthy Me, Healthy You, a free event promoting pediatric and family wellness on Saturday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Discovery Center.
Several community partners will offer interactive and educational activities addressing a variety of health and wellness issues for children and adults, including childhood obesity, germ awareness, healthy portion control, CPR and much more. Activities include a bounce house and several fitness demonstrations that visitors can join in. Visitors can also explore Discovery Center’s newest exhibit, Run! Jump! Fly! Adventures in Action, an interactive exhibition featuring action-adventures popular in children’s books, movies and TV. Jump into action star training exploring kung fu, surfing, snowboarding, yoga, horizontal climbing and more—all designed to build strength, coordination, balance and endurance. Visitors can also practice balance and climbing skills in the Tennessee Pediatrics Tiny Town!
“This event engages the children of our community in healthy activities, connects families to the outdoors and provides families with resources to sustain a healthy lifestyle,” Discovery Center Chief Executive Officer and Founding Director Billie Little said. “This type of event captures the ideals of our organization and that of the Let’s Move Museum movement.”
