Representative Dawn White (R-Murfreesboro) has been appointed to serve on the House Business and Utilities Committee and the House Education Administration and Planning Committee and Subcommittee for the 110th General Assembly.
"I am excited to return to the Business and Utilities Committee this session and use my experience as a former small business owner to ensure that Tennessee continues to have the best possible environment for job creation and for existing businesses to thrive," said White. "We all know that government does not create jobs, businesses do. Through common sense, conservative leadership, Tennessee is in a position to continue to attract new businesses and jobs, and I will work to make sure we keep moving in the right direction."
White previously served on the Business and Utilities committee during the 108th General Assembly. With her reappointment to the Education Administration and Planning Committee, she will have served on one of the House Education Committees during each of her three terms in the General Assembly.
"As a former teacher in the Murfreesboro City School System, I am thankful for the opportunity to continue to put my experience to work on the House Education Administration and Planning Committee. We've made great progress in reforming and improving our state's education system and supporting our teachers over the last several years, but there is much more we can do to continue moving our state forward," White said.
The 110th General Assembly completed its organizational session this week and will reconvene on Monday, January 30th to take up regular legislative business. Gov. Haslam will address a joint convention of the House and Senate that evening to deliver his State of the State address.
In addition to her committee roles, Rep. White also serves in leadership positions in the House Republican Caucus, after having been elected by her colleagues in November to serve as Caucus Secretary and Caucus Treasurer. She lives in Murfreesboro and represents District 37 in Rutherford County, which includes portions of Murfreesboro, Smyrna, La Vergne, Walter Hill and Leanna.
