Middle Tennessee women’s basketball head coach Rick Insell has announced Jordyn Luffman has decided to leave the program.

“We wish Jordyn the best in her future plans,” Insell said. “As a team, we will move on and continue our preparations for the upcoming season.”

Luffman started 19 of the 30 games in which she played as a freshman last year, averaging 5.3 points and 3.7 rebounds. She scored a career-high 19 points against Troy Jan. 19 and pulled in a career-best nine rebounds versus Kansas State Dec. 21 at the UTSA Holiday Classic.

“I have decided at this time to go in a different direction,” Luffman said. “I wish nothing but the best to the Blue Raiders.”

The Blue Raiders will open the 2011-12 campaign by traveling to University Park, Pa., for the Lady Lion Classic Nov. 11-13. Middle Tennessee begins tournament action against UNC Wilmington. The Blue Raider home opener is slated for 7 p.m. Nov. 17 against South Dakota State inside the Murphy Center.
