Recovering a stolen cement mixer and arresting a suspect earned Sheriff's Deputy Matt King honors as Officer of the Month for March from Ford of Murfreesboro.
King searched that night until he found the suspect and located the stolen cement mixer.
Owner Andy Obeissy of Ford of Murfreesboro recognized King's efforts by presenting him a watch.
"We are proud of Deputy King for going above and beyond to serve his community," Obeissy said. "Ford of Murfreesboro appreciates all of the service men and women that defend our community."
Sheriff Mike Fitzhugh said King went beyond simply taking a report.
"Deputy King searched for the suspect and recovered the cement mixer," Fitzhugh said. "I commend him for his persistence in solving this crime."
Capt. Rhett Rankin said King responded to the call at a construction site at night where someone in a white truck stole a cement mixer on McKee Road.
After leaving the call, King searched the roads until he located the suspect on U.S. Highway 70 South (Lebanon Highway) near the Wilson County line. He recovered the stolen cement mixer and charged the suspect with felony theft and driving on a revoked license.
"Deputy King is recognized for his diligence and perseverance as it concerns investigating this matter, which led to the ultimate discovery of the suspect and the stolen property," Rankin said.
