Blue Raiders' run at USTA/ITA Regionals comes to an end

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - After an impressive run at the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships, seventh-seeded Ben Davis fell to No. 3 seed Josh MacTaggart in a quarterfinal match on Sunday morning. Freshman Ettore Zito also dropped his quarterfinal match in the Consolation Draw.

Davis, ranked No. 115 nationally, fought hard against 55th-ranked MacTaggart (Indiana University) before falling, 6-3, 6-4. Davis had won four consecutive matches in straight sets before Sunday's outing.

Zito was impressive as well in his quarterfinal match against Tennessee's Brandon Fickey. Zito won the first set, 6-4, but dropped the second, 3-6. The two played a super tiebreaker, with Fickey coming out on top, 10-7.

The Blue Raiders conclude fall action this weekend at the Crimson Tide Fall Championships. The tournament runs Oct. 28-30.
