Former District 19 County Commissioner Joyce Ealy has been tapped by the commission to fill a vacated seat.

On a 15-to-4 vote, Ealy beat out former County Commissioner and State Representative Mike Liles to fill the seat vacated by Shawn Kaplan. You'll recall he resigned after selling his home and moving to an apartment that was outside the district.

Ealy, who has already taken he oath of office, did not seek re-election in 2014 after serving since 1990. She served as chair of the Budget Committee the last 12-years of her term.

Ealy will serve out the remainder of Kaplan's term, which is up in 2018.
