When La Vergne police officers were told to be on the lookout for a red Pontiac Grand Am, Officer Eric Staats quickly spotted the vehicle and flipped on his blue-lights and siren.  After a short pursuit, the driver stopped and fled on foot.  32-year old Charles Crawford was quickly apprehended. Three 17-year old juveniles remained in the car, and were also detained.

The four suspects face a total of 27 felony charges and three misdemeanors. According to the investigation report, the crime started as a drug deal, and turned into an armed robbery. Police discovered that the four individuals allegedly went to 204-A Humble Drive to purchase crack-cocaine, but instead reportedly robbed the two women who were selling the illegal substance.

While this was happening, a worried father was in contact with the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office. He told them that his vehicle and four-year old were missing, and that he was concerned that the toddler was with his mother and in possible danger.

The sheriffs office allegedly found evidence of crack cocaine usage at the home.  In the separate investigation, the Department of Children’s Services was contacted.

It was found that two Rutherford County women were reportedly selling drugs, and one had a child with them. 27-year-old Erin Hacker and 29 year-old Heather Hacker were charged with felony child endangerment and the children were removed by the Department of Children's Services.

The 30 charges against the men include: driving on a suspended license (3rd offense), felony evading in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, criminal conspiracy to buy crack cocaine, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, possession of a handgun, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of Schedule III narcotics, sexual battery, conspiracy to buy marijuana, and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.

LaVergne Officer Staats said, “All assailants were apprehended, young children were removed from a dangerous situation with the parents, and no one was injured.” The Crime Suppression Unit member added that the adults were being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, and the four juveniles are at Rutherford County Juvenile Detention.
