Update: "Bridge Over Broad"

Jul 19, 2017 at 02:22 pm by Bryan Barrett

If you've traveled the bridge construction area of Broad, you'll notice the main structure beams are now protruding from both the Memorial Boulevard and Old Fort Parkway side of the interchange.

In fact, traffic will be totally blocked in all directions the weekends of July 28 and August 4th. On both of those weekends, police will detour all traffic starting at 8:00 o'clock Friday night and continue shut-down until 6:00AM Monday morning. That will allow construction crews to connect the two sides of the bridge over Broad.

Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland:

Currently, the TDOT contractor plans to close the Broad and Memorial intersection for two weekends between 8 PM on Friday and 6 AM Monday to set the girders for the middle section of the bridge.

These closures are tentatively set for those weekends, but could be changed with weather conditions.

NewsRadio WGNS will keep you informed about TDOT's procedures as soon as they are made known.

The cost of the bridge is 17-point-six-million and is expected to be completed by December.
