Shortly before 2:00 o'clock (Central Time) on Thursday (7/20/2017), four members of the Nevada Parole Board meeting in Carson City, granted O. J. Simpson a parole on his armed robbery charges. The board voted unanimously to approve his parole.
O.J. Simpson, former football star and convicted felon, had served 9-years of his 33-year term at the Lovelock Correctional Center.
The earliest release date for the 70-year old inmate would be October 1, 2017.
Simpson was convicted in 2008 of an armed robbery involving two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room.
The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners heard arguments before deliberating off-camera.
Simpson's celebrity status included sports, movies, television and advertising before his fall from grace during his highly publicized murder trial in 1995. Simpson was found not guilty in the killings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman.
In 1997, he was found liable in civil court for their deaths and ordered to pay $33.5 million to survivors, including his children, and the Goldman family.
