Interim Deputy Secretary of the VA, Mr. Scott Blackburn, visited the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System

Interim Deputy Secretary of the VA, Mr. Scott Blackburn, visited the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System's (TVHS) Alvin C. York campus in Murfreesboro Tennessee Tuesday (8/8/17). His visit was in conjunction with a speaking engagement at a VA National Conference being held at the Opryland Convention Center in Nashville TN.

Mr. Blackburn met with Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 9 and Tennessee Valley Healthcare System's (TVHS) senior leaders. During his stay at the Alvin C. York Campus Mr. Blackburn was briefed on current improvements by TVHS senior leaders and was given a tour of several facilities on-site. After his briefing with senior leaders Mr. Blackburn commented that, "he has been watching the progress of TVHS since his last visit in March of 2017 and that he is very pleased that TVHS is continuing to make steady progress forward." Mr. Blackburn also presented awards to four TVHS employees who have made huge contributions to improving the quality of healthcare at TVHS and to the material condition of our facilities. Mr. Blackburn then toured the Tennessee Fisher House, the new expansion of the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program building, the Mental Health Annex as well as the relocated Urgent Care Center at the Alvin C. York campus. During his tour he was introduced to numerous Veteran patients and TVHS staff. He was "extremely impressed" with the care that is being provided by the team at the Alvin C. York Campus and TVHS as a whole.

Mr. Blackburn wrapped up his visit by thanking the leadership team for making positive things happen at TVHS. He asked that TVHS keep up the good work that is being done, as it does make a difference in the lives of our Veterans.
