No post conviction relief for drug and money laundering crimes

Oct 10, 2017 at 10:19 am by Bryan Barrett

A man who plead guilty in a Rutherford County courtroom to multiple drug and money laundering crimes, has asked for post-conviction relief. Jeffery King was sentenced to forty years of incarceration to be served at 100%.

King, who was arrested a number of years back, was investigated by the 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force. Evidently, phone calls that were intercepted by the task force indicated that 700 pounds of drugs were set to be delivered into Middle Tennessee.

After being sentenced in the courtroom of Judge Royce Taylor in Murfreesboro, King petitioned the court of Criminal Appeals suggesting that he received ineffective assistance of counsel. However, the courts denied a new case from moving forward and agreed with the lower courts.

An October 6th release by the Tennessee Supreme Court shows that King's appeal request was officially denied.
