A 25 year old Memphis, TN man was arrested in Murfreesboro on felony drug charges. Evidently, police were called to Aspen Heights Apartment Complex in regards to a resident smoking marijuana inside their residence.
Upon police arriving, they spoke to Xazavier Burks. Officers said they could smell marijuana in the air as they neared the room he was in. Once inside, police say they observed four individual baggies of marijuana in plain view. The weed was said to be sitting on a dresser next to rolling papers and a digital scale.
Burks reportedly told police that he had a .45 caliber handgun next to his bed. He also advised that he was visiting Murfreesboro from Memphis.
According to a police report, Burks had over $1,000 in cash with him at the time of his arrest. When police asked if he was employed, he suggested that he has not had a job since December of 2016 and could not give a valid reason for having so much cash. The money was seized as evidence along with the drugs and gun.
Burks was arrested and scheduled to appear in a Rutherford County courtroom on December 12, 2017. He will face charges of possession of a firearm with a felony, felony possession of a schedule six drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Burks is currently free on bond.
